Private Associated Residence

With the cooperation of the private companies, Kyoto University provides international students and researchers enrolled at the university with secure housing.
Please contact the relevant supervisor directly for details of each residence.
This residence is not managed by Kyoto University.

1. Flat Agency

5. Leopalace 21

Eligible PersonsKyoto University international students, researchers, and staff
(Foreign nationals with the status of residence “Temporary Visitor” are not eligible)

  3. A copy of the applicant’s certificate of acceptance, enrollment, or employment issued by Kyoto University
  4. The contact details of two persons must be provided as emergency contacts (e.g. parents residing in the applicant’s home country, Japanese speaking friends or acquaintances residing in Japan)
Services Available
(Three different plans are available)
  1. Monthly plan (lease must be for more than 90 days): No lease guarantor is required. The apartment includes furniture and household appliances.
  2. Short-term plan (lease must be for more than 30 days): No lease guarantor is required. The apartment includes furniture, household appliances, and bedding.
  3. Long-term plan (lease must be for more than one year): Up to two roommates are allowed.

Please Note
  • Furniture, household appliances, an internet service, and maintenance services for the furniture and household appliances are available for most apartments.
  • An agent’s commission is not charged for most apartments.
The following is Applicable only to the long-term plan (over one year):
  1. A guarantee contract with the guarantor company appointed by Leopalace21 is required.
    The Guarantor’s Fee (paid at the conclusion of the initial leasing contract) is 120% of the monthly rental fee (Including maintenance fees, parking fees, and any other monthly fees). A further fee of approximately ¥5,000 yen per year is required when the lease is renewed.
  2. Residents must enroll in fire insurance.
    (Kyoto University international students must enroll in the University Co-op’s Student Fire Mutual Insurance)
