1. Kyoto Municipal Housing (Kyoto Shiei Jutaku)

Notice in Applying for municipal Housings

  1. Applicant must be over 20 years of age
  2. Resident Registration at local city/ward office must be completed by the time of application.
  3. Address or place of work must be in Kyoto City
  4. Single is not eligible.
  5. Applicants must be able to conduct everyday conversations in Japanese.
    ( Information and application forms are given in Japanese.)
  6. One guarantor is available.*Kyoto University cannot act as joint guarantor.
    Guarantor:Person who lives in Japan and has more income than applicants.

Application etc.Application forms are available at Kyoto City/Ward offices at the beginning of each application month. Recruitment occurs 4 times a year (Apr., Jun., Sep., and Dec.). Locations and apartment layouts are available along with application form. Residents are chosen by lottery. It takes about 3 months from application to move-in. General information on municipal housing is available anytime at city/ward offices. The housings are located within Kyoto City.

2. Kyoto Prefectural Housing (Kyoto Fuei Jutaku)

Notice in Applying for Prefectural Housings

  1. Resident Registration at local city/ward office must be completed by the time of application.
  2. Address or place of work must be in Kyoto Prefecture.
  3. Single is not eligible.
  4. One guarantor is available.*Kyoto University cannot act as a joint guarantor.
    Guarantor:Person who lives in Japan and has income corresponding to the monthly rent.
  5. Applicants must be able to conduct everyday conversations in Japanese.
    ( Information and application forms are given in Japanese. )
