Outline

For Students

International students who will enroll at Kyoto University within one year of their arrival in Japan are eligible to apply.

Regular Application
The move-in periods are April and October. Applications are accepted in January and July (three months prior to the desired move-in period).

Temporary Application (Outside of regular application periods)
Applications for short-term stays will only be accepted if there is a vacancy. Please check our website and apply through the application system.

Period of Tenancy

  • Shugakuin / Yoshida / Koshibo / Hyakumanben / Mizuki / Okazaki : From one month (minimum) to one year (maximum)
  • Uji/Ohbaku: From one month (minimum) to two years (maximum)

For Researchers

Applications must be made on the researcher’s behalf by their host professor or an appropriate staff member of their faculty/department of affiliation. Please note that if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available units, successful applicants will be decided by lottery.

Period of Tenancy

  • Shugakuin/Yoshida/Okazaki: From one month (minimum) to one year (maximum)
  • Uji/Ohabku: From two weeks (minimum) to two years (maximum)
