Kyoto University has seven accommodation facilities available for international students and
researchers, located in the Shugakuin, Yoshida, Hyakumanben (for students only), Okazaki, Misasagi
(for students only), Uji and Ohbaku areas of Kyoto.
Applications for accommodation should be made through the application system.
The information stated below is subject to change.
For International Researchers |
The following Kyoto University employees are NOT eligible to apply for residence in the International Houses:
Examples of those who are eligible to apply for the International Houses:
Guest Research Associate, Guest Scholar, Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate
Professor, and Program-Specific Researcher, etc. |
---|---|
For International Students |
Students who will newly enroll at Kyoto University and who have been living in Japan for less than one year are eligible to apply. |
*The orange parts are the procedures which applicant’s host professor or an appropriate university staff member should complete.
Pre-registration should be made through the accommodation application system by applicant's (= international researchers and students) host professor or an appropriate staff member of their faculty/department of affiliation by the designated day.
Kyoto University International Service Office (KUISO) send an URL for application to the applicants via e-mail.
* When making a pre-registration, if applicant's host professor or an appropriate staff member selected "I do not wish the International Service Office to contact the student/researcher. I will contact them myself.", they will receive this e-mail on the applicant’s behalf.
Applicants must register the necessary information by the designated day through the URL.
* When making a pre-registration, if applicant's host professor or an appropriate staff member selected "I do not wish the International Service Office to contact the student/researcher. I will contact them myself.", they must complete registration on the applicant’s behalf.
Because the number of available units in the Kyoto University International
Houses (including students accommodations such as Satsuki, Mizuki
Dormitories, and Kyoto Ryugakusei House provided by external parties) is
limited,
successful applications will be decided on a lottery basis if the number of
applicants exceeds the number of available units.
Please be aware, therefore, that in such circumstances, we may not be able
to provide applicants with accommodation.
Please note that inappropriate applications, applications containing false information, and ineligible applications will be rejected.
The results will be notified to the host professor or the staff member who
made a pre-registration at first on the announcement date.
They are required to check the result through the application system after
receiving a notification.
If the applicants were allocated to the accommodation, staff member who made
the application must approve the result.
(When the application was unsuccessful, there is no need to proceed
anything. The same notification will be sent to both of applicants and
staff members from our application system automatically.)
* When making a pre-registration, if applicant's host professor or an appropriate staff member selected "I do not wish the International Service Office to contact the student/researcher. I will contact them myself.", they will receive this e-mail on the applicant's behalf. In this case, those who received e-mail must inform the applicant of the result, because the applicant will not receive any notification directly.
Note: To use this system, you need SPS-ID and password (Kyoto University network account for faculty and staff). If you would like to confirm your ID or password, please contact IIMC ICT Support Center.
New residents must check details through the URL notified in the result and complete the registration of move-in schedule two weeks prior to the scheduled move-in date.
* When making a pre-registration, if applicant's host professor or an appropriate staff member selected "I do not wish the International Service Office to contact the student/researcher. I will contact them myself.", they must complete this registration on the applicant's behalf.
New residents are requested to come to the allocated accommodation directly
at the pre-arranged arrival time on the move-in day
.
They complete the necessary procedures such as paperwork and receiving
room key(s) in person at the accommodation.
